Charge your electric car from any Type 2 charger

The Akyga® AK-EC-10 adapter converts an European Type 2 connector to an American Type 1 connector. It is a handy 0.5 m cable which will save many situations. Cars charging via Type 1 socket are less and less popular in Europe, so this connector is not always available on public EVSE charging stations. In this situation, the Type 2 - Type 1 adapter will allow you to charge your car using a standard Type 2 connector (IEC 62196-2).

The adapter is small, so that it doesn't significantly increase the volume of the entire vehicle charging kit. Thus, the relatively short cable eliminates the formation of leverage. This makes the conversion 100% safe for the car socket. What's more, the car power adapter supports a 32 A fast charging. This is made possible by thick copper wires and robust contacts in the plugs.

Rubber plugs on connectors

The adapter has special rubber plugs. These are designed to protect the contacts against tarnish and accidental dirt during storage.

The charging cable adapter has been made with the utmost care for safety. The materials used are designed to protect not only against the potential impact of the adapter, but also unfavourable weather conditions. The high protection class IP54 guarantees resistance to splashes. On the other hand, the insulation of the cable meets the UL94V-0 flammability class standard, so in case of an unintentional fire, the flame will not spread. What's more, the robust connectors will allow more than 10,000 charging connections, thus resisting accidental drops from a height of 1 m and pressure of up to 2 tons.

When to choose an adapter?

Depending on what our needs are, we will use a cable or an adapter. It all depends on what kind of electric car we have and which charging station we use on a daily basis. Do you know in which situations you will use a cable and in which you will use an adaptor? If you are not sure which solution is best for you, read the article Electric cars - what are they and how to charge them?
